Metro housing market cools, but city budgets OK - for now (The Altoona Herald-Mitchellville Index)
Des Moines and most of its suburbs saw fewer new houses built last year, a sign that the national housing slump has crept into central Iowa. Yet most area cities appear to be weathering the downturn in the housing market with little effect on city budgets, officials said.
